The FFE is concerned with exposing the reality of open source education. The abundant open courseware, available for free, could educate the entire planet. For rural areas, we'll just need printers, clips, a few art supplies, and some concerned teachers. They don't have to buy books, they can make them. This is the idea for developing countries' rural communities, who are largely without internet access, and therefore largely without access to open-source educational resources.
In the United States we have access to computers, even in impoverished communities. Regardless, the FFE recognizes that an organized effort to supply students with "open source educational resource awareness" is still a dire necessity in these impoverished communities. The FFE will seek to create this awareness, and we will seek funding to print and bind open source books for these underserved communities as well. We hope to find publishers who will donate their time and resources toward making these books. At the FFE, we are sure this type of project is the next big push in freeing education, and we very much want to help make it so.
